Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway recognized

The Senate of the Twenty-Sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii is honored to recognize HUI MALAMA O KOLOA for having Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway named as a Hawaii State Scenic Byway by the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation’s Hawaii Scenic Byways Program. 

The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation’s Hawaii Scenic Byways Program recognizes roads designated as having outstanding scenic, historic, cultural, natural, recreational or archaeological qualities. To date, there are four (4) designated byways in the State of Hawaii.  In December 2011, Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway was the third byway to be recognized and designated as a “Hawaii Scenic Byway” by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation and is the first designated scenic byway on the island of Kauai.

Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway, located in the Koloa-Poipu area of Kauai, Is more than 19 miles long and connects numerous historical and cultural sites.  The byway was nominated and designated as a Hawaii scenic byway for its cultural, historical, archaeological, cultural and scenic value.

Special recognition and appreciation is extended to the sponsor of Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway, Hui Malama O Koloa.  Hui Malama O Koloa took the initiative to sponsor and nominate the Holo Holo Koloa Byway for recognition and designation as a scenic byway under the Hawaii Scenic Byways Program.  Hui Malama O Koloa continues to work to preserve, protect and promote the intrinsic qualities of the Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway with the collaboration of government agencies, businesses and community groups.

The Senate of the Twenty-Sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii commends and congratulates HUI MALAMA O KOLOA for its outstanding achievement on Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway’s designation as a Hawaii State Scenic Byway and extends its very best wishes and warmest aloha to HUI MALAMA O KOLOA in all of its future endeavors.
